On October 23, 2015 Dr John Judson, Vice President of Operation Medical will take two teams back to Hospital Pierre Payan, located just north of the busy market town of Montrouis, which is about 2 hours north of the capital city of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. The mission is scheduled for two weeks ending November 4, 2014. The team for this year’s visit to Haiti includes volunteers from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Florida and California.
Pierre Payan Hospital is operated by Project Help, which is a part of the Church of God missionary outreach. Project Help focuses on education, health care, agriculture, and community development. The hospital opened in 1979 and has one major operating room, one minor operation room and an obstetrics delivery suite. There are about 30 – 40 inpatient beds and a very nice Haitian nursing staff with whom our team will have the pleasure to work with again. While full-time surgeonos have not ben present since the earthquake of 2010, visiting teams of volunteers travel to the hospital about six times a year. For the last five years, many of our volunteers have been returning to serve the coummunity there and report positive progress on the availability of care and surgical services.
We will be reporting news from the team ‘on the ground’ during this mission, so be sure to check back often for updates, volunteer profiles, and photos!
