Monday afternoon was a big baby day at Chitwan Hospital. Much of the day was spent screening patients. Additionally, the Operation Medical Team worked side by side with the local staff and delivered 4 babies in 3 procedures. How can that be? One birth was a set of twin boys.
Our gracious host, Prof. Dr. Harish Chandra Neupane sponsored a dinner for the team feature many local dishes including Momo, one of the most popular dishes in Nepal. They are bite-size dumplings made with a spoonful of stuffing wrapped in dough. Momos are usually steamed, though they are sometimes fried or steam-fried. The filling of meat or vegetables becomes succulent as it produces an intensively flavored broth sealed inside the wrappers.
After a night of rumbling thunderstorms, the team started the day with a group photo (see below) in front of our ‘school bus’ and conducted a morning huddle with the local staff to review protocol, observations and the cases scheduled for Tuesday. As of this early this morning there are 7 cases on the schedule and more screenings for the morning.
Thanks for checking in and more to come!
