Operation Medical clinicians began their patient cases on Sunday in prolific fashion, with the team arriving at Kasturba Hospital at 7:30am local time and completing 32 procedures before wrapping up the day. There was excitement in the air as volunteers settled into a rhythm working alongside local colleagues.
Program veterans were thrilled to collaborate once again with three OR nurses—Bhakti, Bhavna and Disha—who participated in OpMed’s 2013 mission in Khambat, India. All three generously donated their time to join OpMed this week. It is marvelous to have these three talented ladies with us again! The team’s surgeons have expressed unanimous delight with the enthusiasm and quality of care offered by Kasturba nurses and technicians as well as returning friends from the Khambat mission.
Most cases wrapped up around 5:00pm with one case completing around 6:00pm. It was a highly productive and successful day. Another full day and the caravan headed back to the hotel for a shower and some dinner. Everyone turned in immediately after dinner as they continue to adjust to the time change (10 ½ hours ahead of EST). Morning comes early with a 5:30 wake up.
Thank you for reading and following our journey. It means the world to the team to see all of the comments and shares on Facebook.
